AHC Safeguarding Policy Appendix 1

1. Safeguarding at AHC Events

Club Responsibilities

Motorsport UK recognises that there is both a moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children (under 18) and vulnerable adults (18 and over). The Austin Healey Club is therefore committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment where children and vulnerable adults are respected, valued and supported at events organised by the Austin Healey Club at both National and Centre Level. The way that our Membership process is structured allows for persons of 17 years and above to be Members. Also, for Joint Membership, no age qualification is required, although it is assumed that for a joint membership the Member is the responsible adult. As regards Vulnerable Adults the Club does not require this to be defined. As a result, any event may have participating members who are children or vulnerable adults.

In order to meet the MSUK requirement the Club has appointed a Safeguarding Officer who by meeting appropriate training and security requirements becomes an authorised Officer of MSUK. In addition, the Club has developed a Safeguarding Policy and Process which is available to view on the Members Area of the Web Site in the Documents Section. Contact details for the Safeguarding Officer who can provide advice regarding a specific situation are:

Safeguarding Officer, Dave Colwell – 07711 157 032.

Member Responsibility

All Members are expected to be familiar with the Safeguarding Policy and Procedure. Any Member who becomes aware of circumstances during an event, involving a member who is a child or vulnerable adult, which make them feel uncomfortable or suspicious they should report this to the Safeguarding Officer as soon as possible.
